Padvocates: Affordable Menstrual Care Manufacturing Unit
The Challenge
Period poverty rose sharply in Lebanon after the economic crisis. Many women and girls could not get safe, affordable menstrual care. Partners needed a local machine to restore access. It would also strengthen local production.
Our Solution
LAUIH brought together students, faculty, and engineers. They designed, automated, and commissioned a complete menstrual pad machine. The work covered mechanical design and motion simulation. It also covered PLC and HMI programming, instruments, assembly, testing, and operator training. We checked everything against international hygiene and quality standards.
The Results
The production line now runs in Baalbeck with NGO partner Nusaned. It makes affordable hygienic pads for distribution across Lebanon. It is a locally built industrial answer to a pressing public health need.
